MADAME KWAN'S
Suria KLCC
A restaurant take on the local street food on offer in Malaysia. Lines get long and the place is always busy, beware.
TWG
The Gardens Mall
So many teas, too little time. One pot of tea can give you three cups of goodness that you can couple with cake or apple tart.
HOMI CURRY PUFFS
The Gardens
For crisp, crumbling ripples of pastry surrounding a deliciously moist curry chicken filling, visit Homi. They're large too!
TOAST BOX
Almost everywhere
Toast Box is the place to visit for a little kaya heaven. As it serves more than just toast and coffee, you may find yourself there for lunch too, slurping up mee siam or laksa.
PARADISE DYNASTY
Paradigm Mall
Xiao long bao, chicken chop and hand-made noodles, all of which you can watch being made for you.
DELECTABLE BY SU
The Gardens Mall
For cakes too beautiful to eat, sweet caramel popcorn you'll keep coming back for - Delectable by Su is the place to go.
DIN TAI FUNG
Empire Shopping Gallery
Xiao long bao may be their specialty, but it's not the only thing this Taiwanese food force has to offer. Try their red bean bao too.
PANGKOR CURRY
Subang Jaya
Opposite the famous Fatty Crab Restaurant, Pangkor Curry also deliver an amazing array of seafood dishes, specialising in fish. Like when eating any crab, prepare to get messy.
HOKKAIDO ICECREAM
Paradigm Mall
Try the white peach sorbet, you'll fall in love and then fall in love again. The honeydew sorbet is also equally delicious.
KOMUGI
Paradigm Shopping Centre
Delicious Japanese delights in the form of puddings, cheesecakes and chocolates. Their baked goods are also made fresh daily.
NANA'S GREEN TEA CAFE
The Gardens
More green tea drinks than I can count on my two hands, it's a must visit place for green tea fanatics like me.
HUI LAU SHAN
1 Utama
One of a famous chain of dessert shops from Hong Kong, Hui Lau Shan will give you more delicious mango and coconut dessert combinations than you could think of.
RESTORAN LOONG SENG
Damansara Jaya
I asked my uncle for dimsum and he delivered. You can welcome nasi lemak in coconut leaves, egg tarts and noodles just to get your palate introduced to the typical flavours of Malaysia.
MOCHI SWEETS
Pavillion
A little bit of Japanese luxury in a sweet, fat, ball. Try the peach cream or mango yoghurt. Remember that mochi themselves have a significant type of taste. On a side note, the insides look like the batman insignia.
BURGER LAB
Seapark
It's all the rage with the youth of KL, charcoal burgers with Australian grass-fed beef. As an Australian with an abundance of cows, these burgers don't shape up too badly. Don't look past their portobello fries if you're a mushroom fiend.
MADAME WAFFLE
Mid Valley Mega Mall
Green tea waffles anyone? Belgium waffles coated in the basics, banana, strawberry, chocolate syrup... Madame Waffle also makes lovely coffees.
MAGNUM CAFE
Mid Valley Mega Mall
For the pleasure seeker within you, or the creative control freak who wishes to choose their own ice cream toppings, welcome to Magnum. Lines are long but the ice creams are good so go early.
PASAR PAGI
SS2
Pasar Pagi (morning market) is well worth a visit. Here you'll find the best local produce, seafood and local delights. There are little stalls open and selling noodles or peanut pancakes (my favourite) and you're never at a loss for food. Visit the pasar malam at night.
O&S RESTAURANT
Paramount Garden
Always packed with locals, you'll find all of Malaysia's cuisines and food under one hawker lot roof. Char kway teow, Penang laksa and tom yum are just a few you can sample.
LAVENDER BAKERY
1 Utama
Pick up your snacking breads and pastries from Lavender. Awesome as a morning snack or a light breakfast. Soft and fluffy breads and sweet pastries that are great - price wise and taste wise.
RESTORAN SS2 MURNI
SS2
Mamak at its best. Open every day and almost always packed, be prepared to camp for a table and seat. Dahl is ridiculously delicious here too, as are the roti. Accompanied well with teh tarik, you may find yourself ordering three roti dishes and then wondering what next.
